And when he had endured the famous death of this one, the third was led away, being urged by many by many that, after tasting, he might be saved

But he, crying out aloud, said, Do you not know that he himself sowed me with those who have died; a father and the same mother bore me, and I was brought up on the same teachings?

I do not renounce the noble kinship of the brotherhood.

But those who bitterly endured the boldness of the man, with joint-wrenching instruments, were dislocating his hands and his feet, and by prying them out of their joints they were dismembering them.

they were twisting the fingers and the arms and the legs and the elbows

And being in no way able to strangle him, after stripping off the instruments, together with the tips of the ends of the fingers, they flayed him with the skin removed

and immediately they were leading him to the wheel, around which, while being dismembered from the joints, he saw his own flesh licked all around and drops of blood flowing down through his inward parts

But as he was about to die, he said:

We, O most impious tyrant, suffer these things because of the discipline and virtue of God.

But you, because of impiety and bloodshed, will endure unending torments.

And when this one had died nobly as a brother, they dragged on the fourth, saying:

Do not become mad, do not you also with your brothers the same madness, but, having been persuaded by the king, save yourself.

But he said to them, Not so; you have the fire more scorching against me, so that I should act cowardly.

By the blessed death of my brothers and the everlasting destruction of the tyrant and the everlasting life of the devout, I will not renounce the noble brotherhood

Devise torments, tyrant, so that through them also you may learn that I am a brother of those who were tortured before me.

When Antiochus, the bloodthirsty and murderous and most utterly polluted one, heard these things, he ordered his tongue to be cut out.

But he said, Even if you take away the instrument of the voice, God hears even those who are silent.

Behold, the tongue has been cut loose; cut, for for this reason you will not cut out our reason with the tongue.

Gladly, for the sake of God, we are being mutilated in the parts of the body.

But God will quickly overtake you, for you are cutting out the tongue that sings the divine hymns.
