And the sons of Israel again did the evil before the Lord, and the Lord gave them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
And there was one man from Saraa, from the people of the kinship of Dan, and his name was Manoe, and his wife was barren and did not bear.
And an angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, Behold, you are barren and have not borne, and you will conceive a son.
And now guard yourself, indeed, and do not drink wine and strong drink, and do not eat anything unclean.
For behold, you are pregnant and will bear a son, and no razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite of God from the womb, and he himself shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
And the woman came in and said to her husband, saying, A man of God came to me, and his appearance was like the appearance of an angel of God, very terrifying, and I did not ask him where he is from, and he did not tell me his name.
And he said to me, behold, you are pregnant and will bear a son; and now do not drink wine and strong drink, and do not eat anything unclean, because the child will be holy to God from the womb until the day of his death.
And Manoe prayed to the Lord and said, By me, Lord Adonai, let the man of God whom you sent come now again to us and instruct us what we shall do for the child being born.
And God heard the voice of Manoe, and the angel of God came again to the woman, and she was sitting in the field, and Manoe her husband was not with her.
And the woman hurried and ran and told her husband and said to him, Behold, the man who came to me in the day has appeared to me.
And Manoe rose up and went after his wife, and he came to the man and said to him, Are you the man who spoke to the woman? And the angel said, I am.
And Manoe said, Now your word will come; what will be the rule of the child and his deeds?
And the angel of the Lord said to Manoe, From all that I have said to the woman, let her keep herself abstinent.
From everything that comes out of the vine of wine he shall not eat, and wine and strong drink, let him not drink, and let him not eat anything unclean; all that I have commanded her she shall keep.
And Manoe said to the angel of the Lord, Let us detain you here, and we will prepare before you a kid of the goats.
And the angel of the Lord said to Manoe, If you restrain me, I will not eat from your loaves, and if you make a burnt offering to the Lord, you shall offer it up; for Manoe did not know that he was an angel of the Lord.
And Manoe said to the angel of the Lord, What is your name, that your word may come, and we may glorify you?
And the angel of the Lord said to him, Why do you ask this for my name? and it is wonderful.
And Manoe took the kid of the goats and the sacrifice and offered them upon the rock to the Lord, and Manoe was separating to do, and Manoe and his wife were watching.
And it came to pass, at the flame’s ascending above the altar unto the heaven, that the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar; and Manoe and his wife, watching, fell on their faces to the ground.
And the angel of the Lord no longer appeared to Manoe and to his wife. Then Manoe knew that this one was an angel of the Lord.
And Manoe said to his wife, We shall surely die by death, because we have seen God.
And his wife said to him, If the Lord had wanted to put us to death, he would not have taken a whole burnt offering and a sacrifice from our hand, and he would not have shown us all these things, and, according to the time, he would not have made these things heard to us.
And the woman bore a son and called his name Sampson, and the child grew up, and the Lord blessed him
And the spirit of the Lord began to go out with him in the camp of Dan and between Saraa and between Esthaol
